Saudi Arabia’s deadline for correcting the work permit status of specific categories of expatriate workers remains in effect until December 31, 2026. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development introduced the initiative to give eligible establishments and workers additional time to address their work permit status through approved procedures.
The initiative covers expatriate workers whose work permits have been expired for more than 12 months. It also includes workers for whom no work permit has been issued for more than six months from the date they entered the Kingdom, subject to the conditions and requirements established by the ministry.
The initiative allows establishments to address the status of eligible workers through the approved regulatory process. The measure is intended to support compliance with Saudi labor market regulations while providing additional time for establishments to complete the necessary procedures before the extended deadline expires.
The ministry said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to regulate the labor market, improve compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and enable eligible establishments and expatriate workers to correct their status and access official services in accordance with the approved requirements.
With the correction period continuing until December 31, 2026, establishments and expatriate workers who may fall within the eligible categories should review their work permit status and complete the required procedures during the remaining period, while relying on the ministry’s official channels for detailed requirements and updates.
