Kuwait’s General Department of Traffic has clarified the official procedure motorists must follow to have a wheel clamp removed from a vehicle after completing payment of the relevant traffic violation, as part of efforts to organize and simplify the process for vehicle owners.

The procedure begins with payment of the traffic fine through the government Sahel application or the Ministry of Interior application. Motorists may also visit the General Department of Traffic to complete payment in accordance with the approved procedures.

Once the fine has been paid, the payment receipt must be placed clearly on the vehicle’s windshield. The motorist should then contact the General Department of Traffic through the dedicated WhatsApp number 99324092 so the necessary steps can be taken to remove the wheel clamp.

If the clamp falls off, motorists must immediately call Kuwait’s emergency number 112 and wait for a traffic patrol to arrive. The authority specifically instructs motorists not to attempt to move or handle the clamp themselves while waiting for the patrol.

The General Department of Traffic also warned that breaking or damaging the wheel clamp may result in legal action against the person responsible. Motorists were urged to comply with traffic laws and official instructions to support road safety and protect all road users.
