Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority has upgraded its work permit renewal service for Golden Residency holders as part of broader government efforts to improve public services and redesign administrative procedures, providing employers with a faster and fully digital renewal process.
The upgraded service enables employers to renew work permits for Golden Residency holders before the existing permit expires. Employers can select from available renewal periods of six months, one year or two years, providing greater flexibility when choosing the appropriate permit duration.
One of the most significant changes is the reduction in processing time from 10 working days to an instant and automated procedure. The authority has also reduced the number of application steps and approvals involved in completing the work permit renewal process.
Required documents have been reduced by 50 percent, while the service-level agreement has been reduced by 25 percent and the number of required approvals by 25 percent. The service has also achieved a 100 percent digital transformation, with information standardized across the relevant channels.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority said the development is designed to reduce time and effort, improve procedural efficiency and provide beneficiaries with a clearer and easier digital experience, as Bahrain continues its wider program to redesign and enhance government services.
