Security authorities in Bahrain have dismantled an illegal cockfighting operation after raiding a remote site prepared for such activities, resulting in the arrest of five individuals who were caught preparing to initiate a fight inside a fully equipped arena.
Chairman of the Animal Welfare Society Mahmoud Faraj stated that officials received information indicating that individuals were engaging in organized cockfighting activities, prompting an immediate report and verification process before launching the operation.
He explained that security forces monitored a gathering at the location during the evening, and upon raiding the site discovered a fully prepared fighting ring, confirming the organized nature of the activity and leading to the arrest of five suspects along with the seizure of two roosters inside the arena.
Faraj added that the site was clearly designed for hosting such illegal events, and authorities took custody of the animals, while further inspections conducted the following day revealed between 10 and 15 additional roosters showing signs of previous injuries.
He confirmed that the case has been fully documented with evidence including photos and videos and referred to the Public Prosecution, stressing that placing two roosters together in a fighting ring is a clear indication of intent, with investigations ongoing to ensure strict legal action against all involved.
