The UAE Cybersecurity Council has announced that the country’s national cybersecurity systems successfully detected and countered nearly 750,000 attempted cyberattacks targeting several vital sectors, highlighting the growing challenges posed by increasingly sophisticated digital threats.
In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency, the council identified the energy and education sectors among the principal targets, explaining that national cybersecurity teams responded to the threats as part of ongoing efforts to protect critical digital infrastructure and maintain essential services.
The attempted attacks involved several techniques, including remote code execution, distributed denial-of-service attacks designed to disrupt online platforms, and phishing campaigns intended to deceive users into revealing confidential information.
The council also reported threats involving artificial intelligence and other advanced cyberattack methods, reflecting the evolving nature of digital risks and the importance of strengthening early detection and rapid-response capabilities.
According to the council, the successful identification and response to these threats demonstrate the readiness of the UAE’s national cybersecurity framework and its ability to monitor suspicious activities, assess risks and implement preventive measures.
It emphasized that the number of detected attack attempts should not be interpreted as evidence that the attacks resulted in successful breaches. The reported figures concern threats that were identified and addressed, rather than confirmed incidents of service disruption or data exposure.
The authorities continue to enhance digital protection through advanced technologies, improved coordination, intelligence sharing and proactive security measures aimed at responding effectively to emerging threats.
The Cybersecurity Council reiterated that protecting vital sectors remains a national priority, particularly as digital services become increasingly important across energy, education and other essential areas of daily life.
The announcement reflects the UAE’s continuing efforts to maintain a secure and resilient digital environment. The statement did not specify the precise starting date of the period covered by the reported attack figures.
