Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Information has launched a new electronic service allowing eligible individuals covered by Article 7 Bis, relating to personal sponsorship, to submit residency status amendment requests through the government’s unified Sahel application.
The authority announced the service on September 27, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand digital government services, simplify administrative procedures and improve access to official transactions for eligible applicants.
According to the announcement, users can access the service by opening the Sahel application, selecting the Public Authority for Civil Information under individual services, and choosing the status amendment option associated with Article 7 personal sponsorship.
Applicants must complete the required information, attach the supporting documents requested by the service and submit the application electronically through the official platform. The process is intended to reduce reliance on traditional paper-based procedures.
The service specifically concerns categories covered by Article 7 Bis and should not be interpreted as a general residency amendment option available to every expatriate in Kuwait. Eligibility remains dependent on the applicant’s legal category and the relevant administrative requirements.
Making the service available through Sahel adds another procedure to Kuwait’s expanding digital government ecosystem, giving eligible users a centralized platform for accessing and submitting official requests.
However, submitting an electronic status amendment request does not necessarily constitute final approval of a change in immigration status. Any related residency decisions remain subject to the competent authorities and applicable legal procedures.
Applicants are advised to review the supporting document requirements displayed in the application, ensure that their personal information is accurate and follow their transaction status through official channels. Unverified claims about processing times or service fees should not be relied upon.
The new service reflects Kuwait’s broader digital transformation efforts, which aim to improve administrative efficiency and make government procedures more accessible through Sahel and the Public Authority for Civil Information’s official electronic services.
