Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology has issued multiple weather warnings for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, covering several regions of the Kingdom amid forecasts of thunderstorms, strong winds, blowing dust and varying rainfall intensity, with possible flash flooding and hail in some locations.
The center’s official early warning system showed red alerts for parts of the Makkah, Al Baha and Asir regions. Red warnings indicate severe weather conditions requiring heightened caution and compliance with instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
In the Makkah region, Al Ardiyat was placed under a red warning for heavy rainfall. Other red alerts covered locations in Al Baha and Asir, where intense rain could create dangerous conditions in low-lying areas and valleys.
An orange alert in Al Baha covers Al Baha city and the governorates of Al Aqiq, Al Qara, Al Mandaq, Baljurashi and Bani Hassan. The warning runs from noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and includes the possibility of strong winds, severely reduced visibility, hail, flash flooding and thunderstorms.
Orange warnings were also issued for several locations in the Makkah region, including Makkah city, Taif, Bahrah and Al Jumum, where moderate rainfall is expected. Other areas received yellow alerts for active winds, blowing dust or lighter rain.
The Hail region was also included in the weather warnings, with yellow alerts for light rainfall in several governorates, including Ash Shinan and Al Ghazalah. The daily weather report additionally highlighted the possibility of rain-bearing clouds accompanied by winds capable of raising dust.
According to the center’s daily forecast, moderate to heavy thunderstorms may continue across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and Makkah, potentially producing flash floods, hail and strong winds. Unsettled conditions are also possible in parts of Hail, the Northern Borders and the Eastern Province.
The center’s warning system classifies red alerts as severe weather requiring full precautions, orange alerts as weather conditions demanding caution, and yellow alerts as the possibility of an area being affected by a weather phenomenon.
Residents and motorists are advised to follow official weather updates, avoid crossing flooded valleys and exercise particular caution when visibility is reduced. Warning levels and affected locations may change as conditions develop throughout the day.
