Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has issued new instructions to educational administrations and schools regarding the activation of online classes through Microsoft Teams, as part of its efforts to strengthen digital transformation and improve students’ ability to participate in virtual learning environments.
The ministry has scheduled the online sessions for Saturday, October 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM Kuwait local time. The sessions will last one hour and follow the approved schedules distributed to the relevant educational institutions.
The instructions cover schools operating under the country’s educational districts, as well as religious education and special education institutions. Administrations have been directed to prepare students and ensure they can access Microsoft Teams and attend their scheduled lessons.
The directive was communicated in an official letter from Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Engineer Hamad Al-Hamad to the relevant directors responsible for educational districts, religious education and special education, emphasizing the importance of technical readiness and student participation.
One of the most significant aspects of the announcement is that students will receive grades counted toward their participation and interaction assessments. The measure is intended to encourage meaningful engagement with teachers and learning activities during the virtual sessions.
The ministry highlighted the role of Microsoft Teams in supporting digital education by providing tools for virtual classrooms, communication and educational coordination, helping schools strengthen their use of technology in teaching and learning.
The initiative is also designed to improve students’ familiarity with online learning platforms and help educational institutions develop their readiness to deliver digital lessons while maintaining active communication between teachers and learners.
Importantly, the announcement concerns scheduled online lessons lasting one hour on Saturday. It does not constitute a new decision to move the entire school system permanently to remote learning. Individual subjects and class arrangements will follow the ministry’s approved schedules.
