Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, under the Ministry of Interior, has outlined its Passport Details Update service, which allows expatriate residents to update their official passport records after obtaining a new passport through approved government channels without a service fee.
According to the authority’s official website, the service is intended for residents whose passports have been renewed or replaced and who need their new passport information reflected in the relevant government records, in accordance with Bahrain’s applicable residency regulations.
The authority explicitly lists the service as free of charge, meaning applicants are not required to pay a government fee for the passport information update itself.
Applicants must provide a copy of their new passport, which must have more than six months of remaining validity. Copies of family information pages or other additional passport information must also be included where applicable.
A copy of the previous passport is required, including the page showing the passport cancellation stamp. These documents support the verification of the applicant’s existing and updated passport information.
For applications submitted at a service center, applicants must present both their original old and new passports. Each application must also be accompanied by its own supporting documents, particularly when several family members need their information updated.
The service is available through the official Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs website and Bahrain’s national eGovernment portal, Bahrain.bh. Applicants may also submit requests in person at the Muharraq Security Complex or the Isa Town service center.
The official service page lists a processing time of five minutes, subject to the relevant requirements and the submission of valid documentation. The authority reserves the right to request additional documents or information when necessary.
Residents should distinguish this service from applying for or renewing a residence permit. It does not issue a new passport or extend an existing passport’s validity; its purpose is to update official records following the issuance of a new travel document.
For further assistance, residents can contact Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs on 17077077 or consult the official government website to confirm the current requirements and available application channels before submitting a request.
