Education authorities in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, have moved in-person classes to remote learning today, Sunday, October 4, 2026, across schools in the region and its governorates. The decision was taken following weather reports issued by the National Center of Meteorology and was aimed primarily at protecting students and educational and administrative staff.

The General Administration of Education in Jazan said that classes would continue remotely through the “Madrasati” platform, following the approved academic schedules. Students have been urged to attend their lessons at the designated times and follow their regular class schedules to ensure that the transition to online education does not interrupt the learning process.

The move comes as Saudi Arabia’s National Center of Meteorology forecasts continued thunderstorms across several parts of the Kingdom. Jazan is among the areas expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, with the possibility of flash flooding and hail. The weather conditions may also be accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and reduced horizontal visibility in affected locations.

The weather service has also issued specific warnings for parts of Jazan, including areas where heavy rainfall could bring additional risks such as strong winds, hail, thunderstorms and flooding. These warnings have prompted authorities to emphasize precautionary measures and prioritize public safety during the expected weather conditions.

The decision also extends beyond public schools. Jazan University announced the suspension of in-person classes at all of its campuses, academic complexes and colleges across the region, with Sunday’s lectures to be delivered remotely through Blackboard. The General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training likewise announced the suspension of in-person training at its facilities in Jazan.

The latest measures reflect Saudi authorities’ approach to maintaining educational continuity while reducing exposure to potentially hazardous weather. Students and families in Jazan are therefore expected to rely on official education platforms and follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities as weather conditions develop.
