Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has issued an important traffic alert for motorists, warning of expected delays on several major roads on Sunday, October 4, 2026, as the emirate hosts the Proud of the UAE cycling race, with drivers advised to plan their journeys before setting out.

The expected traffic impact will take place between 6:00 am and 8:30 am, when cyclists will be travelling along different sections of the race route, requiring temporary traffic-control measures to protect participants and maintain safety for other road users.

Roads expected to be affected include sections of Al Ain-Dubai Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Ras Al Khor Road and Al Meydan Road, all of which are used by motorists travelling between key residential, commercial and business areas of Dubai.

According to the traffic advisory, vehicle movement may be temporarily suspended at selected points along the race route for periods ranging from 10 to 30 minutes, with traffic reopened after the final cyclist passes through each affected section.

Motorists have been advised to plan ahead, consider alternative routes where appropriate, follow directional signs and comply with traffic instructions on the ground, while also allowing additional travel time if their journey falls within the period affected by the event.

The Proud of the UAE cycling race is being organised by Dubai Police, with the second edition scheduled to begin from the Nad Al Sheba Centre on Sunday morning and cover an 80-kilometre route as part of a wider programme promoting sport, fitness and community participation.

The traffic notice is intended to minimise disruption while ensuring the safe movement of cyclists and motorists, making advance route planning particularly important for residents and commuters who have work, appointments or other commitments during the early morning period.

Authorities have clarified that the affected roads will not remain completely closed throughout the event, as traffic will instead be paused temporarily at specific locations and reopened progressively once the cyclists have cleared each section of the route.
