The Ministry of Education has introduced a significant administrative reform aimed at strengthening the selection process for educational leadership roles, as Minister of Education Engineer Jalal Al-Tabtabaei issued a new decision revising the structure of interview committees for supervisory and technical guidance positions, aligning with a broader strategy to standardize procedures and improve evaluation accuracy across the education sector.
The decision outlines a clear restructuring of interview committees for general education schools, particularly for positions such as Head of General Subjects Division and Subject Department Head, where committees will now be chaired by an Educational Affairs Supervisor and include members such as a Guidance Supervisor, a Technical Supervisor, and a School or Kindergarten Principal acting as both member and rapporteur, ensuring balanced expertise and objective assessment.
For the position of Assistant Principal, the decision mandates that committees be chaired by the Director of Educational Affairs, with two Educational Affairs Supervisors as members, alongside a School or Kindergarten Principal serving as member and rapporteur, reflecting a more structured governance approach designed to enhance administrative oversight and leadership evaluation.
In the case of School Principal positions, committees will be chaired by the General Director of the Educational District, with membership including the Director of Educational Affairs and an Educational Affairs Supervisor, in addition to a School or Kindergarten Principal acting as member and rapporteur, emphasizing the critical importance of this leadership role and the need for rigorous, multi-level evaluation standards.
The Ministry emphasized that this reform is part of an ongoing institutional development plan focused on improving governance, enhancing leadership selection mechanisms, and elevating overall educational performance, ultimately supporting a more efficient and high-quality learning environment across schools.
