Kuwait’s total population reached approximately 5.31 million by the end of June 2026, according to the latest data released by the Public Authority for Civil Information, highlighting continued demographic growth and diversity within the country. Kuwaiti nationals account for about 1.56 million people, representing 30 percent of the total population, while expatriates number around 3.74 million, making up 70 percent, underscoring the country’s strong reliance on foreign labor across multiple sectors.

The data also outlines the largest nationalities residing in Kuwait, with Indians ranking second overall at around 1.06 million people, or 20 percent of the population. Egyptians follow with approximately 670,000 residents at 13 percent, and Bangladeshis at about 333,100 people, representing 6 percent. Other major groups include Filipinos, Syrians, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, Saudis, and Pakistanis, all contributing to the country’s diverse expatriate community.

In terms of age distribution, about 16 percent of the population, or roughly 870,600 individuals, are under the age of 15 and are considered outside the labor force by international standards. The largest segment falls within the working-age group of 15 to 64 years, totaling around 4.28 million people or 81 percent, indicating a strong productive base. Meanwhile, those aged 65 and above account for only 3 percent of the population. Around 4.21 million people live in private households, while 1.09 million reside in collective housing arrangements.

Regarding the labor market, the total workforce in Kuwait stands at approximately 3.264 million individuals, representing 61 percent of the total population. Of these, about 2.8 million are expatriate workers, making up 75 percent of all non-Kuwaitis. Workforce distribution by nationality shows Indians leading at 28.8 percent, followed by Egyptians at 14.6 percent and Kuwaitis at 14.2 percent, with other Asian and Arab nationalities contributing smaller shares.

Employment figures further indicate that around 2.37 million individuals work across the public and private sectors, including 531,600 in government roles and 1.84 million in the private sector, which dominates employment. Domestic workers total approximately 883,300, accounting for 27 percent of the workforce and 17 percent of the population, with women making up 57.7 percent. Asian nationalities dominate this segment, reflecting labor demand patterns within Kuwaiti households and the broader economy.
