His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed that the reopening of Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport represents a critical milestone in restoring full operational capacity, highlighting the exceptional efforts of national teams who demonstrated high efficiency and professionalism in managing the aftermath of the incident and completing rehabilitation works within a remarkably short timeframe.

The statement came during an inspection visit to Terminal 1, accompanied by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Director General of Civil Aviation Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, where the Prime Minister reviewed the operational readiness and infrastructure upgrades completed following the damage caused by the March incident.

During the visit, officials delivered a comprehensive briefing outlining the phases of repair, modernization, and system upgrades carried out across the terminal, including enhancements to operational systems and infrastructure aimed at improving performance efficiency and elevating passenger service standards in line with international benchmarks.

The Prime Minister also chaired a high-level meeting to assess the latest operational strategies, coordination mechanisms among relevant authorities, and preventive measures implemented to ensure smooth air traffic flow and seamless passenger movement, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and security across all operations.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Civil Aviation announced that the gradual resumption of flights for regional and international airlines will begin on June 1, confirming that the phased approach is based on technical and operational readiness, with continuous performance evaluations leading to full restoration of airport operations, while emphasizing strong leadership support and commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure to global standards.
