Kuwait’s State Security and Terrorism Crimes Court has issued strict rulings against nine Syrian defendants, sentencing each of them to 10 years in prison over their involvement in a complex financial crime case.
The court also imposed a combined fine of approximately 6.884 million dinars on the defendants, along with two companies operating in general trading and the sale of perfumes and incense, while ordering the permanent closure of both company premises and banning any future commercial activity.
In the same case, the court acquitted two defendants after determining that the available evidence was insufficient to establish their involvement, while confirming the charges against the remaining individuals.
According to the Public Prosecution, the defendants formed an organized criminal group that engaged in multiple illegal activities, including money laundering, online fraud, and conducting banking operations without proper licensing.
Investigations revealed that the network used misleading electronic payment links to seize victims’ funds, then converted and deposited the money into bank accounts disguised as legitimate business revenues, before transferring it abroad to conceal its illicit origin.
