Abu Dhabi Civil Defense has issued a warning as part of the seventh edition of the “Safe Summer” campaign, highlighting the increased risk of residential fires during the summer season due to rising temperatures and heavier use of electrical appliances and cooling systems.

The authority emphasized that strict adherence to preventive measures is critical to safeguarding lives and property, noting that fire-related incidents tend to surge during this period because of electrical overloads, misuse, and negligence.

It urged residents to ensure the safety and integrity of electrical wiring systems inside homes, describing faulty or outdated wiring as one of the leading causes of household fires, and stressing the importance of periodic inspections by qualified technicians.

The authority also warned against overloading electrical sockets, explaining that excessive load can lead to overheating and short circuits, significantly increasing the likelihood of fire outbreaks within a short time.

Additionally, it recommended regular maintenance of electrical appliances and air conditioning units, safe storage of flammable materials away from heat sources, and the installation of fire detection and alarm systems with routine checks to ensure functionality, given their vital role in early detection and minimizing damage.
