At least 38 people suffered minor injuries after sections of a supermarket ceiling collapsed in Daegu, South Korea, on Oct 10, according to fire officials.

The incident was reported at 10.16am at the store, located on the second floor of a four-storey building in the south-eastern city. The Daegu Fire Department said all 66 people who were inside the supermarket were evacuated.

Officials said nine of those injured were taken to hospital. The reported injuries included abrasions, and no one was in critical condition.

Firefighters searched the premises after the evacuation and found no additional casualties. Police were deployed around the site to manage traffic.

South Korean authorities plan to investigate what caused the ceiling to collapse after the search operation is completed, according to The Korea Herald via Asia News Network.
