The Consulate General of India in Dubai has organised a series of welfare and community activities for Indian residents in the UAE, including financial and health awareness for workers, free legal counselling, fitness events, blood donation and environmental programmes.

The initiatives form part of Seva Pakhwada, a month-long observance that began on September 17. The Consulate said the programme covers service, welfare, health, fitness, environmental responsibility and community participation, reaching workers, families, students and community organisations.

At a labour camp, CGI Dubai partnered with TAK Group for a session on financial literacy and health awareness. Workers received information intended to help them make informed financial decisions, understand how to access healthcare services, and use consular services and helpline facilities.

Another labour-camp session was conducted with All Kerala Medical Group (AKMG) Emirates under the theme “CLEAR – Community Learning on Alcohol Risks.” It focused on awareness of the harmful effects of alcohol consumption and encouraged healthier choices among Indian workers.

These activities were held under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, described as a nationwide campaign marking 25 years of public service by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign also promotes public participation in the Viksit Bharat vision, the Indian government’s goal of transforming India into a fully developed nation by 2047.

Legal advice and community activities

On September 21, the Consulate held a walk-in legal counselling camp for Indian nationals living in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The camp offered pro-bono guidance on cybercrime, financial and banking fraud, misuse of Emirates ID and other related legal issues.

CGI Dubai also joined the Indian People’s Forum (IPF) in organising the Viksit Bharat Run 2026 at Zabeel Park. The event drew around 3,000 registrations and brought members of the Indian community together around fitness, unity and the Viksit Bharat vision.

Consul General Dr E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy and other Consulate staff visited Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai, where they took part in Langar Sewa, the free community kitchen service.

A blood donation camp at Sharjah Blood Bank was organised with Ekta Sharjah and the Dawoodi Bohra Community. Community members and volunteers participated in the humanitarian initiative.

Tree-planting drives and Gandhi tribute

Environmental programmes were also included in the observance. CGI Dubai organised tree-planting drives at Amity University Dubai, Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai, University of Dubai and BITS Pilani Dubai, involving students, faculty members and institutional partners.

In Sharjah, Dr Reddy and other Consulate officials joined planting activities at Indian International School, PACE International School, Gulf Asian English School and Delhi Private School. Students and teachers took part alongside the officials, with the events promoting sustainable and greener communities.

On October 2, Dr Reddy and other officials paid floral homage at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Consulate. The tribute recalled Gandhi’s message of truth, non-violence and service.

Through the programmes, the Consulate highlighted its focus on community welfare and encouraged collective participation by the Indian diaspora in building a healthier, greener and socially responsible community in the UAE.
