Dubai Police announced a major traffic enforcement operation targeting reckless drivers who performed dangerous stunts during rainfall across several areas, raising serious concerns about road safety amid unstable weather conditions.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, confirmed that multiple drivers exploited rainy conditions to engage in illegal drifting and sudden maneuvers, despite repeated warnings urging strict compliance with traffic laws.
He explained that such actions are considered among the most dangerous traffic violations, particularly due to reduced tire grip on wet roads, which significantly increases the risk of losing vehicle control and causing severe accidents that may result in injuries or fatalities.
Traffic patrols successfully monitored and identified these violations in key areas including Al Ruwayyah and Al Lisaili, where offending vehicles were seized and legal measures were enforced against drivers involved in reckless driving, stunt behavior, and excessive noise violations.
Authorities confirmed that vehicle impoundment was applied under Decree No 30 of 2023, with release fees reaching up to AED 50,000, reflecting Dubai’s strict stance on dangerous driving and its commitment to protecting lives and public safety.
Brigadier bin Suwaidan stressed that Dubai Police maintains zero tolerance toward such reckless behavior and will continue intensifying patrol presence and monitoring efforts across all areas of the emirate to ensure compliance.
He urged motorists to strictly follow traffic regulations, avoid reckless or stunt driving especially during rainfall, reduce speed, maintain safe following distances, and ensure vehicles are in proper condition with roadworthy tires.
He also highlighted the role of the community in enhancing traffic safety, encouraging the public to report dangerous driving through the Police Eye application or by calling the “We Are All Police” service at 901, reinforcing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
