Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of a new daily direct flight service connecting the capital of the United Arab Emirates with Berlin, Germany, expanding travel options between the two destinations.
The announcement was made, October 16, 2026, confirming that German airline Condor has introduced a year-round service between Berlin and Abu Dhabi using Airbus A320neo aircraft.
According to Abu Dhabi Airports, the route represents the first scheduled direct connection between the two capitals within Condor’s network, providing an additional option for passengers traveling between the UAE and Germany.
The new service is expected to strengthen tourism, business travel, and commercial connectivity by making it easier for travelers to move directly between the two cities without requiring an intermediate stop.
A significant feature of the announcement is Condor’s codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways, which creates opportunities for passengers to access a wider selection of onward destinations through the combined networks of the two airlines.
Passengers traveling from Berlin to Abu Dhabi may be able to connect to destinations served by Etihad Airways, while travelers departing from the UAE can benefit from additional European connections available through Condor’s network.
The partnership is designed to improve international connectivity and offer travelers greater flexibility when planning journeys involving multiple destinations.
Carsten Nørland, Chief Commercial Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, welcomed the new daily service and highlighted its contribution to strengthening direct links between two major international capitals.
He explained that cooperation involving Condor and Etihad Airways supports opportunities in tourism, business, and trade while reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination.
Representatives of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism also welcomed the development, noting that Germany remains an important source market for visitors to the emirate.
Improved access from Berlin is expected to support efforts to attract additional travelers interested in Abu Dhabi’s cultural attractions, hospitality offerings, and leisure destinations.
Condor representatives emphasized the importance of the airline’s cooperation with Etihad Airways in providing access to destinations across Asia, Australia, and Africa through connecting services.
Etihad Airways also highlighted the value of bringing together the two airlines’ complementary networks to improve travel opportunities for passengers in Germany and the UAE.
For UAE citizens and expatriate residents, the service introduces another option for direct travel to the German capital, whether for tourism, business, family visits, or onward journeys.
Travelers should verify flight schedules, ticket availability, baggage conditions, and connecting flight arrangements directly with the relevant airline before completing their bookings.
Passengers must also ensure that they meet the visa and entry requirements applicable to their nationality and destination, as the introduction of a new flight route does not alter immigration rules.
The launch represents another step in expanding the international network of Zayed International Airport and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s role as a regional aviation and tourism hub.
