Kuwait’s General Traffic Department has carried out extensive field inspection campaigns on major roads and highways across the country as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen road safety and enforce traffic regulations.
According to a report published on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the operations targeted motorists engaging in dangerous driving practices and other violations that could threaten the safety of road users.
The campaigns resulted in the recording of 320 traffic violations of various types, while 79 vehicles were impounded and transferred to designated holding facilities.
The authorities also initiated the necessary legal procedures against the motorists involved, in accordance with applicable traffic regulations.
Among the violations identified during the inspections were instances of exceeding posted speed limits, a practice that can significantly increase the risk and severity of road accidents.
Traffic teams also monitored the unauthorized use of emergency lanes, which are intended to remain available for emergency situations and the movement of authorized vehicles.
Other offences included violations of overtaking rules and conditions, alongside additional traffic-related infringements identified during the field operations.
The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector confirmed that enforcement campaigns would continue on different roads throughout Kuwait, with a particular focus on reducing dangerous driving behaviour.
The operations form part of broader efforts to improve traffic discipline, protect lives and property, and encourage motorists to comply with the country’s road safety requirements.
For both citizens and expatriate residents who drive regularly in Kuwait, the latest campaign highlights the importance of observing speed restrictions and following the established rules for changing lanes and overtaking.
Drivers should also avoid using emergency lanes without authorization, as such behaviour can obstruct emergency access and create additional risks for other road users.
The published report did not specify a combined monetary value for the violations recorded during the campaign, nor did it indicate that all impounded vehicles had committed the same offence.
The authorities stressed that their enforcement activities are intended to address hazardous driving practices and support safer conditions for everyone using Kuwait’s road network.
The announcement also underlines that traffic enforcement remains an ongoing activity rather than a measure restricted to a single road or a specific area.
The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector reiterated its commitment to maintaining intensive inspection campaigns and promoting compliance with traffic laws throughout the country.
