Sharjah City Municipality has announced a major update to public parking regulations, introducing extended operating hours across all cities in the emirate including Sharjah, Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Al Dhaid. The move targets all paid parking zones, particularly those marked with yellow signage, aligning them with the blue-zone system.

Under the new policy, paid parking hours will run daily from 8:00 AM until midnight, replacing the previous schedule. Free parking will remain applicable on Fridays and official holidays, except for designated zones that are chargeable throughout the week. The update will impact approximately 124,000 parking spaces across the emirate.

The municipality confirmed that implementation will begin on July 1, following comprehensive studies analyzing usage patterns, demand levels, and urban expansion. Authorities emphasized that the decision reflects direct feedback from residents and visitors, aiming to enhance accessibility and operational efficiency.

Officials highlighted that the extension responds to increasing economic and commercial activity, particularly during evening hours. Restaurant visitors, café customers, and seasonal subscription holders had reported difficulties finding parking after 10:00 PM, prompting the need for a more flexible and responsive system.

Sharjah Municipality clarified that subscription fees will remain unchanged despite the extended hours, effectively granting users two additional hours daily without extra cost. The public has been urged to comply with the updated system and use available payment channels, including SMS services and the Sharjah Digital app, alongside flexible seasonal subscription options.
