Sharjah Police revealed a remarkable humanitarian and security incident that highlights the alertness and professionalism of its operations team, after a call center employee successfully rescued a foreign woman who was under threat from her husband, who was reportedly in an unstable condition, by recognizing a hidden distress signal disguised as a pizza order.

Captain Majed Al Bass, Director of the Call Operations Branch at Sharjah Police, shared the details during the “Aman Ya Biladi” program, explaining that the operator, Khamis, received a call from a woman requesting pizza, and when he informed her she had reached the police and not a restaurant, she confirmed it and continued speaking in a way that indicated she was in danger and unable to communicate openly.

He explained that the employee handled the situation with exceptional composure and intelligence, continuing the conversation as if taking a real order, asking about quantities and drinks, and using her responses to extract critical information that helped assess the situation without alerting the suspected aggressor.

Authorities were immediately notified, and coordination was initiated to trace the caller’s location, leading field teams to respond quickly, where on-site assessment confirmed that the woman was indeed facing a real threat, prompting immediate intervention to secure her safety according to established procedures.

The incident underscores the importance of advanced training programs provided to Sharjah Police operations staff, especially in handling unconventional emergency scenarios, as well as the need for strong communication skills to understand diverse cultural behaviors, where individuals may use coded language or indirect methods to signal danger, ensuring timely and effective response.
