Dubai Police issued a strong traffic warning after a serious accident caused by failing to maintain a safe following distance, with Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan confirming that this violation remains one of the leading causes of severe and fatal road accidents across the emirate.

He stressed that traffic statistics clearly show rear end collisions caused by insufficient distance are among the most common incidents, highlighting the urgent need for drivers to follow safety regulations to reduce risks and protect lives on the roads.

According to the UAE Federal Traffic Law, drivers who fail to maintain a safe distance face a fine of 400 dirhams along with four black points added to their driving record as part of strict enforcement measures.

The warning came after a collision between two trucks beyond Global Village heading toward Sharjah, where lack of safe distance directly caused the crash and resulted in one injury with the victim transferred to hospital for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the command and control center received the report immediately, and initial investigations identified failure to maintain adequate distance as the main cause, while traffic patrols secured the scene and ensured smooth traffic movement.
