The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced a temporary shift to remote learning across all higher education institutions nationwide, effective from Tuesday, May 5, 2026, until Friday, May 8, as part of proactive measures to ensure the safety of students and academic staff.

This decision comes within a structured framework aimed at maintaining uninterrupted education while ensuring flexibility and adaptability in response to evolving conditions, reinforcing the resilience of the academic system.

The ministry confirmed that distance learning will be fully implemented during this period, with strict adherence to approved academic standards to guarantee that learning outcomes remain unaffected and educational quality is preserved.

However, specific exceptions apply to academic programs that require physical attendance, including clinical training, laboratory-based courses, field applications, and in-person examinations, which will continue under controlled on-campus arrangements as determined by the authorities.

In parallel, Dubai’s Government Media Office announced that private educational institutions in the emirate will also adopt remote learning during the same period, aiming to protect students, academic and administrative staff, and the wider community, while ensuring continuity of education in line with official guidelines.
