Secretary of State Marco Rubio has rejected reports that he is preparing to leave Donald Trump’s administration, saying he intends to serve through the president’s term.
Marco Rubio Says He Plans to Remain in Trump Administration

Marco Rubio said serving through Donald Trump’s term has always been his plan.
In comments to The New York Times, Rubio said remaining in office had “always been my plan” and said he did not know the basis for reports suggesting an imminent departure. Rubio holds two roles in the administration: secretary of state and national security adviser.
“I love the work I’m doing,” Rubio said, while joking about the reports.
He declined, however, to discuss whether he could seek the presidency in 2028. “I literally will not talk about 2028 anymore,” Rubio said. “I just won’t do it.”
Rubio previously told NBC News in May that he would support Vice President JD Vance should Vance run for president, calling him “a phenomenal candidate.”
The remarks came after Vance posted his assessment of election results on X, attributing Republican losses to the war with Iran, voters’ views on the administration’s Israel policy and its economic messaging.
Asked whether he agreed with Vance’s analysis, Rubio said he was not “really involved in domestic politics.”
At a Sunday rally in Kansas, Trump praised Rubio and joked that he might have to fire him for being “too popular.” Rubio thanked Trump for protecting Americans and said he had attended in his capacity as a national security official traveling with the president. He also said the war had hurt Republicans in the elections.
