Egypt’s net foreign currency reserves stood at about US$57.35 billion at the end of September 2026, reaching an all-time high, according to information from the Central Bank of Egypt.
The level places reserves close to the US$58 billion threshold for the first time. The increase was attributed to higher foreign currency inflows into the Egyptian economy.
Separate central bank data showed that net foreign assets held by the banking sector had risen to US$31.2 billion by the end of August 2026. The figure was the highest recorded since 2011 and was also driven by increased foreign currency inflows.
The stronger reserve and foreign-asset indicators were reported despite recent global economic developments and challenges. The figures were presented as evidence of stability in Egypt’s banking sector and national economy, as well as the country’s capacity to withstand external pressures.
