The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has launched three bus routes linking Al Madam, Al Sajaa and Sharjah with Etihad Rail’s station in Al Dhaid, providing passengers with public transport access to the national passenger railway network.

The new services are designated ER1, ER2 and ER3. ER1 runs between Al Madam and Etihad Rail Station in Al Dhaid, while ER2 connects Al Sajaa with the station. ER3 provides the link between Sharjah and the Al Dhaid station.

  • ER1: Al Madam to Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid
  • ER2: Al Sajaa to Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid
  • ER3: Sharjah to Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid

SRTA said the routes form part of its effort to improve integration between different forms of public transport and make rail journeys easier for commuters. The services offer passengers travelling from the three areas a bus option for reaching the station and returning from it.

Al Dhaid became part of the UAE’s national passenger rail network on September 30. The opening gave Sharjah its first Etihad Rail station and connected the emirate by rail with Fujairah and Abu Dhabi.

Dubai connection also added

Dubai has also recently introduced a new connection to the Etihad Rail network. A pedestrian bridge opened on Thursday, October 15, linking Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station to Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station.

Passengers can enter the enclosed bridge through Exit 1 or Exit 2 at Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station. The route has escalators and moving walkways, and the transfer is estimated to take between five and seven minutes.

An Etihad Rail shuttle bus continues to operate between the two stations, allowing passengers to choose between walking and taking the bus. Dubai Al Yalayis Station began passenger operations on September 30, connecting Dubai to the inter-emirate rail network.
