Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is turning low-traffic night hours into a strategic maintenance window, carrying out road repairs, upgrades and infrastructure work while reducing disruption for motorists.

Night operations cover asphalt roads, sidewalks, bridges, tunnels, drainage systems, street lighting, traffic signals, signs and safety barriers. Teams also complete final inspections before reopening work areas ahead of the morning peak.

The authority reports that 95% of Dubai’s road network assets are rated “Excellent”, reflecting continuous inspections and preventive maintenance programs designed to keep the city’s infrastructure safe and efficient.

During 2026, through early June, around 17 kilometres of asphalt roads were maintained and rehabilitated across nine streets and six areas, covering major, arterial and internal roads as well as a cycling track.

The 2026 preventive maintenance plan also targets approximately 90,000 square metres of sidewalks, supported by smart systems and data analysis that help prioritize repairs according to damage levels, traffic volumes and safety requirements.

By using the night as an operational window, Dubai aims to complete essential maintenance with minimal impact on road users while ensuring that roads and transport facilities are ready for a new day.
