Kuwait announced early Wednesday that it had been targeted by aerial attacks attributed to Iran, marking a new escalation in regional tensions following the United States’ decision to resume its naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas.
In an official statement, the Kuwaiti military confirmed that its air defense systems were actively intercepting hostile drones, describing the attacks as part of what it called an aggressive Iranian action, while emphasizing that defensive operations remain ongoing to secure national airspace.
The statement clarified that any explosion sounds heard by residents are the result of successful interception operations carried out by air defense units, urging citizens and residents to strictly adhere to safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities and to avoid spreading unverified information.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Fire Force announced that firefighting teams successfully brought a fire under control on Tuesday evening at one of the targeted sites, with six firefighting units supported by teams from the Kuwaiti military and the National Guard participating in the response.
According to the official spokesperson, the fire resulted from the hostile attack on the site, adding that emergency crews acted immediately upon arrival to contain the blaze efficiently, confirming that no injuries were reported and that the damage was limited to material losses only.
