Kuwait’s Cabinet has decided to suspend work at all ministries, government bodies, public authorities, and public institutions on Thursday, August 27, as an official holiday marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad for the Islamic year 1448 AH. Official working hours will resume on Sunday, August 30.

The decision was announced during the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait. The meeting approved the official holiday and confirmed the date on which government employees will return to their regular duties.

Under the decision, the holiday will apply to ministries, government agencies, public authorities, and public institutions across Kuwait. Employees covered by the decision will have an official day off on the occasion, while normal government operations are scheduled to resume on Sunday morning.

The Cabinet also clarified that agencies and departments with special operational requirements may follow different holiday arrangements. The relevant authorities responsible for those entities will determine their schedules according to the nature of their work and in a manner that safeguards the public interest and ensures the continuity of essential services.

Accordingly, Thursday, August 27, will be an official holiday for the government sector in Kuwait in celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad for the Islamic year 1448 AH. Regular official work will resume on Sunday, August 30, while entities with special work requirements will implement holiday arrangements determined by their competent authorities.
