Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah chaired a high-level government meeting to discuss ways to enhance groundwater resources as part of a broader plan aimed at supporting the country’s water security system and protecting strategic water reserves.
The move reflects Kuwait’s growing focus on securing vital resources and strengthening long-term sustainability efforts.
The meeting brought together several senior officials and ministers involved in water, energy, and oil sectors, including Oil Minister Tareq Al Roumi, Minister of Electricity Water and Renewable Energy Subaih Al Mukhaizeem, and Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Boodi. Senior executives from Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Kuwait Oil Company, and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research also attended the discussions.
Officials reviewed national plans related to groundwater management and strategic storage capacity with the goal of ensuring stable water supplies and achieving stronger water security across Kuwait.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of using advanced technologies and scientific expertise to support sustainable water resource management.
Discussions further addressed the role of government agencies and national institutions in supporting groundwater projects and improving research studies linked to Kuwait’s water reserves, Participants stressed the need for full coordination among all concerned authorities to preserve natural resources and secure them for future generations.
