Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has begun implementing a temporary closure affecting six police stations across the country, starting Sunday, October 18, 2026, as part of a program to renovate and upgrade security facilities.

The ministry announced the measure on Saturday, October 17, explaining that one police station in each of Kuwait’s six governorates would be temporarily closed while maintenance and development work is carried out.

To ensure that members of the public can continue accessing services, the authorities have designated an alternative police station for each location affected by the closures.

The initiative is intended to transform the selected facilities into modernized police stations, with improvements to their infrastructure and service environments.

In the Capital Governorate, Shamiya Police Station will be temporarily closed, with Kaifan Police Station designated as the alternative location for visitors.

In Jahra Governorate, Qasr Police Station is included in the closure program, while Naeem Police Station will provide services during the temporary shutdown.

For Farwaniya Governorate, Farwaniya Police Station will close temporarily, and members of the public should instead visit Omariya Police Station.

In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Police Station is affected, with Abu Fatira Police Station designated as the replacement service location.

In Hawalli Governorate, Shuhada Police Station will temporarily cease operations at its existing location, and visitors are directed to Sidiq Police Station.

In Ahmadi Governorate, Sabah Al-Ahmad North Police Station will be temporarily closed, while Sabah Al-Ahmad South Police Station will serve as the designated alternative.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that services will remain available through the replacement stations during the maintenance and development period.

The ministry also urged citizens and residents to visit the relevant alternative police station rather than traveling to a facility that is temporarily closed.

The announcement is especially important for people planning police-related visits or administrative transactions during the coming days, as the changes may affect their usual service locations.

The measure represents a temporary operational arrangement rather than the permanent removal of the affected police stations or the cancellation of their services.

The published announcement did not specify a final reopening date for the six facilities, making it important for residents to follow further official updates concerning the progress of the renovation work.

Citizens and expatriate residents are encouraged to check the designated alternative location before setting out, helping them avoid unnecessary travel and complete their visits more efficiently.
