Air Cairo has announced the suspension of its flights to and from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday and Monday, October 11 and 12, 2026, marking a new development affecting a large number of Egyptian travellers heading to Saudi Arabia.
According to the airline’s statement, the suspension applies to services linking Cairo International Airport and Sohag International Airport with Riyadh, as the temporary suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport continues.
The decision means passengers holding confirmed bookings from Cairo or Sohag to Riyadh on the affected dates are being urged to verify their flight status before travelling to the airport and not rely solely on the original departure time shown on their booking.
Air Cairo said the suspension is directly linked to the continued interruption of operations at Riyadh Airport, and that the resumption of services will depend on the airport returning to normal operations in coordination with the relevant Saudi civil aviation authorities.
The available statement did not include a detailed list of affected flight numbers, making it essential for each passenger travelling on October 11 or 12 to check their individual reservation through the airline’s official channels.
The development is particularly important for Egyptian workers and residents in Saudi Arabia, as well as travellers heading to the Kingdom for visits or employment, especially passengers from Upper Egypt who rely on direct Sohag services to avoid travelling to Cairo.
Air Cairo has advised affected passengers to contact the airline or the travel agent through which they made their booking in order to review their reservations and check available options, including possible rebooking arrangements or other alternatives depending on operational developments.
The decision comes after several airlines introduced changes to Riyadh services during recent days, making it increasingly important for passengers to confirm their flight status before leaving home or heading to the airport.
The suspension does not mean that all air travel between Egypt and Saudi Arabia has stopped. It currently applies to Air Cairo services involving Riyadh during the announced period, while flights to other Saudi airports continue according to each airline’s own schedule.
