Bahrain has announced the completion of improvements to 173 government services across 22 public entities between January 15 and October 8, 2026. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to redesign administrative procedures, expand digital government services, reduce processing times and documentation requirements, and improve the overall experience of citizens, expatriate residents and businesses dealing with government departments.
According to the announced details, several improvements affect services commonly used by individuals and families. Among them is the digitisation of inquiries concerning applications for official marriage certificates at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. The updated service allows users to enter application details and access the relevant information electronically, helping simplify the process of checking and following up on their requests.
In the employment sector, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority has improved the service for viewing registered workers’ permit details. The upgraded facility enables users to access work permit information electronically through the government application, AlHukooma. This represents a practical improvement for foreign workers and other eligible users who need convenient access to their employment-related information through official digital channels.
Property-related government procedures have also been improved. The Survey and Land Registration Bureau has digitised the service for requesting an extension of the property registration period under facilitated conditions. The processing time for this service has been reduced from three working days to one working day, reflecting the effort to make selected real estate transactions more efficient while preserving the applicable eligibility requirements.
Additional improvements cover specialised regulatory and business-related services. The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has digitised permits for exporting veterinary samples outside Bahrain, while the Supreme Council for Environment has automated procedures related to reviewing and updating approved product information. These changes are intended to simplify administrative workflows and allow more transactions to be handled electronically.
The government reported that the service development programme has reduced targeted processing periods by at least 25 percent and limited application procedures to a maximum of four steps. It also reduced documentation requirements by 50 percent and the number of necessary approvals by 25 percent. The developed services were brought into a fully digital framework, with paper application forms converted into electronic alternatives.
The improvements also address the accessibility and usability of government platforms. Authorities reported enhancements to user interfaces and service experiences, a 50 percent reduction in the number of pages required to reach a service, and greater consistency in the information published through official communication channels. These measures are intended to make government procedures easier to understand and navigate.
The initiative demonstrates Bahrain’s continued efforts to modernise public administration and expand access to digital services for citizens, residents and businesses. However, the announced performance improvements relate to the services included in the development programme and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every government transaction in the country follows identical processing times, documentation requirements or application procedures.
