Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran does not seek nuclear weapons and remains open to dialogue, while condemning US sanctions, during a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Yerevan.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of a UN biodiversity summit in Armenia’s capital. In a statement issued by his office, Pezeshkian rejected what he described as false claims about Iran’s nuclear intentions.

“Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons, and we consider the malicious propaganda against our country to be lies,” Pezeshkian said, according to the statement. “We have always been ready for dialogue.”

He also said Iran would not submit to pressure. “They think they can force us to surrender, but we will not bow to coercion,” he said.

Pezeshkian described US sanctions imposed on Tehran as “unjustifiable and inhumane.”
