Attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia killed three foreign residents and injured dozens of people, including two Egyptian residents, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Wednesday.

GACA said the two airports were targeted on Tuesday and Wednesday. Emergency teams and relevant authorities responded immediately after each incident under approved response procedures and plans, according to the authority's statement.

Casualties at Abha airport

The attack on Abha International Airport killed two female residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian. It also left 28 citizens injured, along with two foreign residents from Bangladesh and the Philippines.

GACA said the injuries at Abha ranged from minor to severe.

King Khalid airport attack

At King Khalid International Airport, one Sudanese resident was killed, the authority said. Eight people were injured: five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident. Their injuries also ranged from minor to severe.

All those injured in the two attacks were taken to hospital for necessary medical treatment, GACA said. The authority added that the incidents caused material damage at both airports.

GACA said it was coordinating continuously with relevant security agencies to assess the damage and take necessary measures aimed at protecting passengers and airport workers, while maintaining the security and safety of Saudi Arabia's civil aviation system.
