Etihad Airways has cancelled all services between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh until October 19 as Riyadh's airport remains closed following Houthi attacks, according to the airline's updated travel information.
The UAE national carrier also cited “regional disruption” in cancelling flights from Abu Dhabi to Jeddah and Dammam until October 14. The measures extend several days of disruption to air travel in Saudi Arabia.
A Notice to Air Missions, or NOTAM, states that Riyadh airport will remain closed until October 17. Saudi Arabia's aviation authority has also confirmed new injuries following an attack on Sunday.
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been particularly affected, with repeated attacks leading to operational suspensions and extensive flight cancellations. Airports in Jeddah, Dammam and elsewhere in the kingdom have also been affected. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several of the strikes.
Air France has separately suspended flights to Dubai and Riyadh until October 31. The French airline said it was monitoring regional developments in real time and had extended its suspension of services to both Gulf cities until the end of October.
Air France said it was contacting affected passengers individually to provide information on arrangements for their journeys.
Airlines have advised travellers to check their flight status before travelling to the airport, as further cancellations and timetable changes remain possible while carriers assess security conditions and await updates from aviation authorities.
Etihad asked passengers to verify the latest status of their flights and confirm their booking before leaving for the airport. The airline said customers can use the help section of etihad.com, which provides local telephone numbers, live chat and social-media contact options.
