Actress Selma Blair was arrested at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport after flight attendants reported that a passenger had become physically abusive during a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department said Monday.

Police identified Blair, 54, as the passenger involved in the incident, which occurred Sunday evening. She was taken into custody after the plane arrived at JFK and was transported to a hospital for evaluation, according to a police statement.

Two flight attendants said they were injured in the incident, police said. One of the crew members was taken to a hospital.

Blair appeared at an arraignment hearing in Queens on Monday on assault charges, according to a video clip of the proceedings posted online. The actor was also accused of kicking a police officer involved in her arrest and a nurse at the hospital where she was later taken. She was subsequently released on bond.

Delta said it would not tolerate disruptive or illegal conduct by passengers. “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” the airline said in a statement Monday.

A representative for Blair said the alleged conduct followed a medical emergency during the flight. “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct,” the representative said. “Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”

Blair is known for roles in the films Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions and Hellboy. She has spoken publicly about living with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disorder she was diagnosed with in 2018.
