Air travel demand to the most popular Arab destinations is experiencing a significant early surge, with peak travel activity expected to extend from mid-March through the first week of April, according to data from online booking platforms. This growing demand has already resulted in a noticeable rise in airfares, with ticket prices increasing by up to 55% compared to levels recorded in January and February.
Industry data show that this price escalation has occurred well ahead of the traditional peak travel season, driven by the convergence of several major holidays within a short period. These include Eid Al Fitr, spring school holidays, and Easter, all of which have contributed to heightened demand for flights, particularly to Arab destinations that typically attract travelers for family visits and leisure.
Analysis of round-trip airfares for seven-day trips indicates sharp increases across several key routes. Average ticket prices to Beirut have risen by approximately 52%, increasing from around AED 1,250 to AED 1,900 starting in the second half of March. Fares to Cairo recorded the highest increase at about 55%, climbing from AED 1,100 to AED 1,700. Meanwhile, flights to Amman saw an increase of 46%, with prices rising from AED 1,200 to AED 1,750.
Ticket prices to Damascus also increased by about 38%, while fares to Alexandria rose by approximately 36% for travel starting from mid-March 2026. Similar price hikes were observed on select leisure destinations in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
The reported prices reflect standard direct round-trip fares and are subject to availability. They do not include promotional offers or flexible fare options, which typically provide additional benefits such as free date changes and added services.
Travel industry executives noted that the early rise in demand reflects a shift in traveler behavior, with bookings being made earlier than usual. They expect prices to continue increasing gradually over the coming weeks as departure dates approach and seat availability tightens.
Experts strongly advise travelers to plan their trips well in advance and secure bookings as early as possible to avoid higher costs. Early planning also allows passengers to access better flight schedules and more competitive fares, particularly during peak travel periods when demand is exceptionally high and options become increasingly limited.
