Dubai has begun awarding Golden Visas to a select group of outstanding teachers and education professionals working in private educational institutions, recognising educators who have demonstrated exceptional performance and made a meaningful contribution to students, schools and the wider education community.
The initiative was implemented under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, coinciding with World Teachers’ Day.
Eligible applicants include educators working in private early childhood centres, schools and higher education institutions across Dubai, provided they meet professional and academic criteria demonstrating excellence, impact and meaningful contribution to education.
Since the initiative was launched on October 5, 2024, more than 835 educators have submitted applications. Candidates are selected through a comprehensive professional assessment designed to ensure fairness and transparency rather than relying only on job titles or years of experience.
The assessment considers academic qualifications, notable professional achievements, innovative contributions to education, involvement in the wider education sector and community, as well as positive feedback from students and parents.
Eligibility criteria also include a proven record of improving education quality, delivering a measurable positive impact, earning recognition within the education community and making significant contributions to improved student outcomes, including academic progress and accredited qualifications.
Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs said the Golden Visa initiative reflects the emirate’s recognition of the importance of educators and its commitment to investing in knowledge, talent and human development.
The authority also confirmed that it is working to translate the leadership’s directives into practical procedures and services by facilitating Golden Visa applications and supporting the long-term stability of distinguished education professionals.
The programme supports the goals of Dubai’s Education 33 strategy, which seeks to attract and retain inspiring teachers whose expertise strengthens student learning, improves educational quality and enhances Dubai’s competitiveness as an international education destination.
Teachers and education professionals interested in the programme can review eligibility requirements and application procedures through Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority, with successful applicants required to meet the approved assessment criteria before receiving the Golden Visa.
