Saudi Arabia has introduced new measures allowing eligible skilled foreign workers to bring qualifying family members to the Kingdom while their employment visa procedures are still being completed, in a move aimed at making relocation easier and improving the quality of life for residents.

According to the Ministry of Interior, eligible workers may bring their spouses, sons under the age of 25 and unmarried daughters to Saudi Arabia, provided that the worker and accompanying family members meet all applicable requirements and conditions.

Under the new arrangement, entry visas for eligible family members can be issued alongside the completion of the skilled worker’s employment visa process, reducing the need to wait until the worker has fully completed post-arrival residency procedures before beginning the family entry process.

The measure is particularly relevant to foreign professionals relocating to Saudi Arabia with their families because it can reduce the period during which workers may otherwise need to live separately from their spouses and children while employment and residency formalities are being finalised.

The Ministry of Interior said the initiative is being implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, linking the process to the official government systems responsible for work, entry and residency procedures.

Once qualifying family members enter Saudi Arabia, the required procedures for obtaining their residence permits can be completed in accordance with the Kingdom’s applicable laws and regulations. The entry facilitation does not remove the need to satisfy subsequent residency requirements.

Eligibility remains subject to the conditions set by the relevant authorities, meaning the measure should not be interpreted as an automatic entitlement for every foreign worker regardless of occupation, professional classification or other eligibility criteria.

The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve services for skilled professionals and residents, support the attraction of qualified workers and make the relocation process more convenient for employees whose families are eligible to accompany them.

Workers considering the new option are advised to use official government channels when checking eligibility and submitting documents, as individual requirements may vary depending on the worker’s employment category, nationality, family circumstances and the type of visa involved.
