Kuwait Airways has officially announced the strategic resumption of its scheduled commercial flights from Kuwait International Airport (Terminal 4) to Sphinx International Airport in Giza, starting Sunday, May 10, 2026.

This move is designed to meet the surging demand for flights from Kuwait to Egypt, offering travelers a streamlined and efficient gateway to Greater Cairo, the Pyramids, and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

The national carrier confirmed that the route will operate three times a week, marking a significant milestone in the second phase of its operational recovery plan.

Acting CEO Abdulwahab Al-Shatti stated that the return to Sphinx International Airport aligns with the company’s broader strategy to enhance operational flexibility and provide diverse travel options.

 This expansion comes as part of a successful gradual resumption of services at Kuwait International Airport, which saw a temporary pause earlier this year due to regional developments.

In a related context, the airline has significantly bolstered its presence in the Egyptian market to accommodate peak season travel.

 With the addition of the Sphinx route, the carrier’s network of flights from Kuwait to Egypt now covers three major hubs: Cairo International Airport (operating twice daily), Sohag International Airport (twice weekly), and the newly resumed Sphinx International Airport (three times weekly).

 This multi-destination approach ensures seamless connectivity for both tourism and business sectors.

From a guidance perspective, Kuwait Airways advises all passengers to verify their departure terminals, as all Egyptian routes are managed through the state-of-the-art Terminal 4 (T4) at Kuwait International Airport.

Travelers choosing Sphinx International Airport are encouraged to take advantage of its strategic location west of the Nile, which serves as a faster alternative for those heading to Giza and the surrounding governorates, effectively bypassing the heavy traffic of central Cairo.

Furthermore, the resumption of these flights is a key component of the airline’s "Phase Two" expansion, which has successfully increased its total operational network to 30 global destinations.

 Authorities at Kuwait International Airport have emphasized that they are closely monitoring market demand indicators.

This allows for the potential addition of special flights or increased seat capacity on high-density routes, ensuring that flights from Kuwait to Egypt remain accessible and comfortable for all passengers during the busy summer period.
