Milipol Qatar 2026 will open on Tuesday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, with more exhibitors and new participating companies than at the previous edition despite regional geopolitical pressures and transport-related difficulties, according to Major General Nasser bin Fahad al-Thani.
The three-day homeland security and safety exhibition is organised by the Ministry of Interior. It brings together international companies, security experts and officials to present technologies and solutions related to public safety and homeland security.
Speaking at a press conference held on the eve of the event, al-Thani, chairman of the Milipol Qatar Committee, said the level of participation underlined the exhibition's position in the security sector. He told Gulf Times that companies from different countries had worked to take part despite the circumstances affecting the region.
“Even if there are a lot of geopolitical turbulences in the region, Milipol Qatar has great participation and is a very good exhibition,” he said. He added that the 16th edition had drawn a higher number of exhibitors, including companies participating for the first time, compared with the preceding event.
Al-Thani said participants had encountered significant obstacles in shipping goods and making arrangements for their attendance. Their decision to come, he said, showed the importance they place on the exhibition.
He also thanked Qatari companies that support Milipol Qatar and take part in the event each year.
AI and cyber security discussions
Al-Thani pointed to the Doha International Conference on AI and Security, held as part of Milipol Qatar, as a forum for considering changes in the security environment. The conference is intended to examine ways of strengthening protection against cyberattacks as new threats emerge.
He said security authorities must closely follow developments in cyberspace and remain prepared for potential risks, including hacking, as cyber-related challenges continue to evolve.
Milipol Qatar is also expected to receive prominent visitors and international delegations, al-Thani said. Invitations have been extended to delegations from interior ministries, police forces and Gulf Co-operation Council countries.
He said their participation would give security officials and representatives of the industry an opportunity to meet, exchange expertise and examine new developments in homeland security. The exhibition serves as an international meeting point for government representatives and sector companies exploring security technologies, solutions and areas for co-operation.
