The UAE Federal Tax Authority has issued an important warning to businesses and entities covered by the country’s electronic invoicing system, urging them to meet the prescribed legal deadlines or face administrative penalties of AED 5,000 for every month or part of a month of delay.
In an official statement released on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Authority confirmed that businesses subject to the e-invoicing system with annual revenues of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider no later than Friday, October 30, 2026. These businesses are also required to implement the electronic invoicing system by January 1, 2027.
The Authority explained that failing to meet the prescribed deadlines, including the deadline for appointing an accredited service provider, may result in an administrative penalty of AED 5,000 for each month or part thereof of non-compliance. Businesses were therefore urged to begin preparations early and complete the necessary arrangements before the applicable deadlines.
For businesses with annual revenues below AED 50 million, the implementation schedule provides additional time. These entities must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by March 31, 2027, and implement the electronic invoicing system by July 1, 2027, in accordance with the phased implementation framework.
The Federal Tax Authority outlined several essential compliance steps, including selecting an accredited provider, completing contractual arrangements, integrating the relevant technical systems and following the required procedures through EmaraTax, the UAE’s digital tax services platform.
The new electronic invoicing system is intended to standardise and automate invoice processing, improve the accuracy and efficiency of tax-related information, reduce manual procedures and support the UAE’s broader digital transformation objectives.
The Authority also highlighted its continuing efforts to support businesses through awareness workshops, technical guidance and coordination with accredited service providers. These initiatives are designed to help affected entities understand their obligations and prepare for the transition without disrupting normal business operations.
Businesses are encouraged to review their revenue classification, identify the applicable implementation phase and complete all necessary procedures within the prescribed deadlines. The Authority stressed that early preparation is essential to avoiding administrative penalties and ensuring compliance with the country’s evolving electronic invoicing requirements.
