The warning follows forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology of moderate to heavy rainfall, alongside detailed heavy-rain alerts covering both governorates.

Civil Defense urged the public to exercise caution and follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities to protect their safety during the anticipated weather conditions.

According to the published early-warning information, Jeddah’s alert period begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday and continues until 3 p.m., Saudi local time.

Listed hazards include strong winds, a loss of horizontal visibility, hail, flowing floodwater, high waves and thunderstorms with lightning.

These hours identify the announced warning window for Jeddah and should not be interpreted as a prediction of equally intense rainfall at every location throughout that period.

In Rabigh, the warning begins earlier, at 2 a.m. on Saturday, and remains in effect until 2 p.m. the same day, Saudi local time.

The official notice covers the entire governorate and lists heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, lightning, flowing floodwater and high waves.

Citizens and residents should therefore check the timing assigned to their own governorate, as Rabigh’s warning window starts several hours before Jeddah’s.

The local alerts form part of a broader rainy weather system that the National Center for Meteorology expects to begin on Friday across much of Saudi Arabia.

The center’s spokesperson identified the Makkah region’s coastal areas, particularly Jeddah and Rabigh, as locations expected to receive moderate to heavy rain on Saturday.

The spokesperson also indicated that the weather system could expand and intensify across much of the Kingdom on Monday and Tuesday, highlighting the importance of following updated forecasts.

Associated safety guidance calls on the public to stay away from flood channels and valley beds and avoid attempting to cross them while water is flowing.

Checking official alerts before travelling can help people identify changes to the announced timing or the geographical coverage of the warnings.

Saturday’s notices are advance warnings, making preparation and compliance with official safety instructions particularly relevant during the period specified for each governorate.
