The implementation coincides with updates to traffic signs and the reprogramming of speed enforcement cameras on the affected roads. These adjustments are particularly important for motorists who regularly use the designated routes, as the permitted speeds now differ from the limits previously displayed. Drivers, including citizens and residents, are therefore encouraged to pay close attention to updated signs and observe the applicable restrictions.

On Al Asayel Street, the maximum permitted speed has increased from 60 to 80 kilometres per hour along the section between Oud Maitha Street and Al Meydan Street. The adjustment represents an increase of 20 kilometres per hour within the specified section, while drivers must continue observing all other traffic regulations and adapting their driving to prevailing road and weather conditions.

Another increase applies to Al Mustaqbal Street, where the speed limit has risen from 60 to 70 kilometres per hour between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street. The adjustment forms part of the authority’s broader review of speed limits on key traffic corridors, taking into consideration road design, traffic movement and the operational characteristics of each route.

Latifa bint Hamdan Street is also covered by the changes, with the maximum speed increasing from 60 to 70 kilometres per hour along the section between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. The updated limit applies in both directions within the designated area and does not automatically extend to other sections of the same road that were not included in the official announcement.

Meanwhile, the maximum speed limit on Al Rebat Street has been reduced from 100 to 90 kilometres per hour between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This reduction requires particular attention from motorists who previously travelled along the route under the higher limit, as the legally permitted maximum speed has now decreased by 10 kilometres per hour.

The second reduction affects Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, where the maximum permitted speed has fallen from 80 to 70 kilometres per hour between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street. Motorists using this section should rely on the updated roadside signs rather than the previous limit, especially when travelling through familiar areas on their regular journeys.

According to RTA, the revised limits follow the 2026 updates to the technical specifications of Dubai’s Speed Management Manual. The authority conducted a comprehensive engineering and technical study over recent months in cooperation with an international consultant. The assessment examined existing traffic conditions and road characteristics to determine suitable speed limits that balance safe travel with efficient movement.

The authority explained that speed limits are assessed using several engineering indicators, including traffic volumes, road design speeds, the nature of surrounding urban development and actual vehicle speeds. Pedestrian activity and the presence of important facilities along the roads are also considered. The approach supports Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy and the wider objective of improving road safety while maintaining efficient traffic flow.

As part of the implementation preparations, RTA arranged for speed limit signs to be replaced along the affected sections in accordance with approved standards. Speed enforcement cameras were also scheduled for reprogramming to reflect the revised limits from the implementation date. These measures are intended to ensure that roadside information and traffic enforcement arrangements correspond to the newly applicable rules.

The changes are limited to the identified sections of the five roads and apply in both directions. Drivers should therefore check where each amended section begins and ends rather than assuming that the revised limit applies along the entire road. This distinction is especially relevant because three of the affected streets have higher limits while the remaining two have lower permitted speeds.

With the changes taking effect on November 1, motorists are encouraged to observe the updated speed limits, follow official traffic instructions and remain attentive to road signs. RTA has emphasized that reviewing speed limits is part of its ongoing efforts to improve road operations and respond to changing traffic requirements across Dubai. The latest adjustments are intended to support safer journeys and the continued development of the emirate’s transportation infrastructure.
