The service is designed to give eligible expatriate workers an official channel for submitting objections concerning reports filed in relation to their employment.
According to the authority, the updated procedure forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve public services, simplify administrative requirements, and make official transactions more accessible.
The development also reflects an ongoing initiative to modernize labour-related services and reduce unnecessary procedural complexity for individuals and businesses.
Under the updated service, a foreign worker may submit a grievance against an absence-from-work notification within 11 working days from the date the notification was submitted.
This period is particularly important because it establishes the timeframe during which the worker can initiate the official objection procedure while the report remains within the relevant verification process.
The authority’s announcement specifically links the deadline to the submission date of the absence notification rather than the date on which the worker chooses to review the case.
Workers who become aware of a report concerning their employment should therefore verify the relevant information promptly and avoid delaying the grievance process.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority has also confirmed that the redesigned service reduces the targeted transaction completion period to three working days.
In addition, the number of administrative approvals required to complete the service has been reduced by 25 percent, helping streamline the internal handling of applications.
The authority has standardized the information available across its official service channels to improve clarity and ensure that applicants receive consistent procedural guidance.
However, a shorter processing period should not be interpreted as automatic approval of every grievance, since individual applications remain subject to the authority’s review and applicable procedures.
The official worker services portal includes a dedicated option for challenging an absence-from-work notification during its verification period.
The authority’s application form requests information about the employee, the employer, and the establishment, alongside personal identification details, contact information, and the reasons for submitting the grievance.
Applicants should ensure that their details are accurate and prepare a clear explanation of the circumstances supporting their objection before completing the relevant procedure.
Submitting a grievance does not by itself establish that the original notification has been withdrawn or that all related employment procedures have been concluded.
Ahmed Ibrahim Al Arabi, Deputy Chief Executive for Services and Business at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, explained that the improvements form part of efforts to adopt innovative digital solutions.
He emphasized that modernizing government services can improve administrative efficiency, simplify procedures, and provide a more convenient experience for those using the authority’s services.
The initiative is also consistent with Bahrain’s wider programme to redesign government transactions and enhance the quality of services delivered to individuals and commercial establishments.
The authority’s announcement highlights the importance of making procedural information accessible and improving the speed of handling applications while maintaining the relevant review requirements.
Expatriate employees in Bahrain are encouraged to monitor their employment and work permit information through official channels and retain documents relevant to their professional circumstances.
Any worker who becomes aware of an absence notification should check the applicable deadline and contact the Labour Market Regulatory Authority through its approved channels when clarification is required.
It is also important to distinguish this specific objection service from wage complaints, contractual disputes, and other employment-related proceedings that may involve different legal processes.
The authority’s official website and worker services portal remain the appropriate sources for checking application procedures, service requirements, and the status of relevant transactions.
