Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has invited Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to attend the UN Water Conference 2026, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10.

The United Arab Emirates will co-host the conference with the Republic of Senegal. Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the invitation in a written message to the Saudi Crown Prince.

Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khereiji, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, received the letter from Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, the UAE ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The handover took place during a meeting at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Riyadh.

If the visit is confirmed, it would mark Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s first trip to the UAE since his private visit on December 1, 2024. On that occasion, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received him at the airport.

The two leaders later held talks at Al Rawda Palace in Al Ain, where they discussed the strong fraternal relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Mohamed also hosted a dinner in honour of the Saudi Crown Prince.
