SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said Sunday that the company’s artificial intelligence unit, SpaceXAI, will be renamed SpaceXSI, adopting the term “super intelligence” promoted by US President Donald Trump.
Musk confirmed the planned change in a reply on X to a user who asked whether SpaceXAI could be renamed SpaceXSI. “Yes, we will make that change,” Musk wrote.
He did not elaborate on the decision or say when the new name would take effect. No further details about the proposed rebranding were provided.
SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the planned name change.
Trump’s terminology push
The move follows comments Trump made during a speech to the UN General Assembly last month, when he called for the phrase “super intelligence” to replace “artificial intelligence.”
“From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the world's, will be changed to use the much more accurate term 'super' as opposed to 'artificial'. So it's super intelligence,” Trump said.
